Background:

Shu came from a strict old Japanese family, according to his deceased grandmother's tales, the family once was a slayer samurai clan. This heritage explains why everything in his family is very traditional in every means possible, including manners and outer influence filters.
Living in an ancient family that lives up to their reputation sure bring hell to Shu as he has a lot of thing to keep up so he won't give the family bad name.
His family consist of parents (father and mother) and a younger brother named Seki (kanji: 赤 ). His parents are the type of traditional Japanese parents, a strict father and a caring mother. His brother Seki is only one year younger and currently in the 2nd year of high school, he's not enrolled in Gekkoukan. However, Seki seems to be an easygoing and careless, as the burden of keeping the family name falls upon Shu's shoulders.

Shu's father and Kubo's father were close friends.
When Shu was little, he was introduced to little Kubo, but perhaps the impression was not strong enough that Shu soon forgot about the little boy.
When Shu's father heard about Kubo's misfortune, he wished to help Kubo and his sister by adopting them into Shihou family. But Kubo refused the offer, ending the families connection that day, that time.

Shu's memories about the little boy that he knew back then was faint, only the vivid blue-green hair stays in his memory. Until one day he crossed path with a somewhat familiar boy of his school, he thought he know that boy. Both of them has the same blue-green hair. Since that, Shu silently monitors that boy's move in school. Easy for him to do so with his Student Council position.

The first time his Persona awaken, he was about to leave the school gate when the clock strikes 12, beginning the Dark Hour. He couldn't remember much what happened after that. According to the Chairman, Kirijo found him kneeling unconscious with defeated Shadows scattered around him when the team was about to enter Tartarus.
With a set mind to control his Persona, he accepted the offer to join S.E.E.S.

Personality:

Few words about him, Shu is very formal in most occasion. He is mostly a serious person when it comes to dealing with things. Most people even consider him scary. Not much people see the easygoing part of him, but he can be that, if situation approves of it.
The reason why he never really shows up around the school, because he's too cooped up working in Student Council, taking care of everything silently. He doesn't like much publicity.
He's the type of guy who enjoys solitude and/or company of few selected people.
